Seaford Head is a Local Nature Reserve within the Sussex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  It provides us with the opportunity to take some lovely walks with spectacular views along the Seven Sisters.

Sitting on the brow of Seaford Head, Florence House is set in 6 acres within an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of the South Downs National Park. It is rock solid in the sea air and surrounding wild landscape. In many ways its situation is a metaphor for its life’s purpose - a haven for the spirit however the wind blows. It’s a much loved venue for life enhancing workshops and retreats. In essence, it lovingly embraces divine inspiration, the sacredness and potential of each individual and the healing power of the landscape in which it sits.

One special feature of Florence House is the large Mongolian yurt nestled at the bottom of the wild garden.  It is well fitted out with cushions and a wood burning stove and so is ideal for evening meditation and treatments.  It compliments the beautiful, traditional interior of the house itself.

The retreat will start on the Friday at 17.30 and finish on the Sunday at 16:00.

All meals, which are mainly organic, will be vegetarian, carefully catered for by Jean-Claude, our chef and proprietor of JC Yogi, using much local produce.  Jean-Claude will be preparing, and advising on, healthy natural foods and juices that can help you to remove toxins from your body, improve your overall health and balance your energy.  He will also explain why certain foods are not good for your health and thus not included in our detox weekend menus. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or sensitivities.  Jean-Claude will also be leading some of the Yoga classes.

Andy Hamilton is a Tai, Chi, Chi Kung and Yoga teacher.  He will be leading the Chi Kung and some of the Yoga classes .  Chi Kung is an ancient traditional Chinese practice that involves the use of synchronised breathing and slow, deliberate movements to help restore the flow of Chi meaning your life energy within your body.  Regular practice is said to help cleanse your body of the stresses and toxins that lead to ill health, both physical and mental.  It does this by acting on your lymphatic system and helping your body to metabolise oxygen more effectively.
